FURTHER NOTICE.
There are no men in sight. This is an issue for them, as their looks are slowly turning tail, a flash of white occurring on the landscape, a pixelation, a sharpening of features or else a blurring. What to do, what to do, about the state of things, the state of beauty quickly fading, the rose sagging on the stem et al; all metaphors aside they are lovely women, lovely people, so much to offer and yet no takers in sight. Its the state of things, of course. The world itself is sagging on its stem, dropping off little petals one by one; few men now care about quality over quantity; its a matter of supply and demand, there is altogether too much supply and not enough demand for women with gray hairs running rampant on their skulls, fuzzy as coarse animals and just as untamed. Not in this sea of plastic, of plushness, of product; a sea of women vying for every man's attention. Hoping and wishing and praying that just one will sit still for long enough.
Its tricky, this life. Marriage is part and parcel, marriage is the very thing we are set to focus our sights on. Eyes on the prize. Marriage means Real Estate, it means Contract, it means security in an insecure world. It means never having to worry, about the loneliness, the singlehood abyss, the lonesomeness that sucks you in and under, like an undertow, powerless and knocking you off balance. But security has a price, the price being the fantasy that it exists to begin with. Tomorrow he'll be run over in traffic, tomorrow he'll get on a plane and never come back, tomorrow is when he decides his secretary has nicer calves than you and so chooses her, like a war that one side will win out on over the other. But like war, both sides have their casualties, their callousness, their calculated selfishness. And like war, the contract, be it marriage or peace treaty, can instantly be rendered inapplicable. Signed today, shredded tomorrow.
There are no men in sight. And no women, either. Just businesspeople, going about their business, contracts in hand, pens at the ready, to sign on the dotted line.
I love you.
If you agree to.
The above.
Co-sign if
applicable.
Both sides
will be amicable
until
further notice.
